The Stillman College Concert Choir on Tuesday conducted its annual Christmas performance for the Tuscaloosa Rotary Club.
“I always look forward to hearing the Stillman College Choir usher in Christmas with their annual concert for Rotary,” said Tuscaloosa Rotary Club President David R. Pass. “This year, Stillman hosted us on campus and what a great experience it was!
“These young people entertain and inspire and we were pleased support them with a $1,000 contribution from the club.”
The Stillman College Concert Choir, under the direction of Jocqueline K. Richardson, is a choral ensemble comprised of both music and non-music major students.
The choir’s last performance in 2019 will be Thursday night as part of the “Tusca200sa Sings” performance at the Frank Moody Music Building on the University of Alabama campus.
Set for 7 p.m., this free concert is one of the final Tuscaloosa Bicentennial celebration events that have been taking place all year.
The Tuscaloosa Bicentennial Commission said “Tusca200sa Sings” will feature a selection of West Alabama singers in a unique celebration of Tuscaloosa’s 200th birthday.
Sponsored by the School of Music at the University of Alabama, the program will include performances ranging from classic spirituals to contemporary country hits and will also debut “Tuscaloosa Song,” a new piece written in honor of Tuscaloosa’s Bicentennial by Kirsten Hicks.
