Churches urged to join community cleanup effort

All churches are invited to join a community cleanup organized by the Tuscaloosa Ministerial Alliance as part of the Tuscaloosa 200 Bicentennial celebration.

The cleanup is scheduled to be held from 7:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. Sept. 14. Anyone who is interested in participating can email forthegoodofourcity@gmail.com.

The tentative schedule for the cleanup calls for check-in at 7:30 a.m. at Government Plaza, 2106 Sixth St. Participants will be given safety gear and a free event T-shirt. There will be music, free food and beverages at the check-in.

Teams will disperse to various work areas at 8:15 a.m., working from 8:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. The safety gear and collected trash will be dropped off at the cleanup sites.
