Prolific Columbus restaurateur Cameron Mitchell was on a roll in 2019, having opened buzzy Del Mar SoCal Kitchen and Lincoln Social Rooftop in the Short North. Then the pandemic hit, forcing him to temporarily shut down all of his restaurants and furlough 4,500 employees. Most of Mitchell’s local restaurants have reopened at the time of this writing, except for M at Miranova. Maybe Mitchell’s most ambitious undertaking ever, Budd Dairy Food Hall, has been delayed for months but is expected to open this year in Italian Village. Taking a Shark Tank-like approach, Cameron Mitchell Restaurants selected eight local “chef partners” to populate the historic 14,000-square-foot building, which dates to 1916. The food hall will include multiple bars staffed by CMR employees, including a rooftop space.

Mobile Food Vendors
The Columbus food truck scene is a veritable United Nations on wheels. There’s Korean street food from Ajumama, South African/Thai/Indian-inspired dishes from Fetty’s Street Food, Polynesian eats from Aloha Aina, Cape Malay fare from Hisham’s, Southern American food from Mya’s Fried Chicken, Mexican street food from Dos Hermanos (see Letter T for more taco trucks), curries and naan from Two Fatt Indians, pollo a la brasa from Nazca Peruvian Eats and so many more. Some food trucks have recently landed new brick-and-mortar homes, including The Little Kitchen at North Market Bridge Park and Alphabetical at Budd Dairy Food Hall.
