Al pastor and chorizo tacos from Los Agavez Taqueria Tim Johnson | Columbus Alive

Taco Trucks

A taco truck on every corner is the best idea ever, right? Los Guachos is one of Columbus’ most well-known, starting out as a sleek and shiny operation on the West Side and plying hungry customers with succulent al pastor tacos and gringas. The bright yellow La Poblanita dishes up tacos, tortas and tamales, while pork chops are the house specialty. Los Agavez Taqueria in Clintonville has earned a following for its messy-but-delicious Tijuana-style birria tacos, while Mr. Grill Tacos on Georgesville Road is known for carne asada tacos, cornmeal migadas and Salvadoran pupusas. Not to be missed is Alebrijes, which took up the mantle and the parking spot from Los Potosinos, and now serves up tacos, fried fish, ribs and excellent grilled chicken.

Taproom Patios

Breweries with unique patios are in high demand these days. Both the Bavarian beers and the outdoor digs of Gemüt Biergarten recall a German beer garden experience. Land-Grant Brewing has expanded into a spacious beer garden perfect for live music and a taste of Ray Ray’s. Seventh Son Brewing’s front patio and rooftop remain city favorites for sipping strong ale, huddling up by the fire and noshing on local food trucks. Sister brewery Antiques on High decked out its rooftop all-weather patio with lounge seating and a fireplace. The outdoor patio at Powell’s Nocterra Brewing Co. is a popular spot for imbibing its dunkels, hazy IPAs and sours. View the city skyline with a Punk IPA in hand on BrewDog Franklinton’s rooftop patio or head to Canal Winchester, where BrewDog’s DogTap includes ample outdoor space with games and a dog park.
