Danny Wuerffel

Quarterback

The biggest challenge for the former Heisman Trophy winner these days is to find time for everything.

So, of course, he uses a football analogy to manage things.

“My life is kind of like a football season,” he said. “It’s crazy and intense for awhile, then I have a few short down periods.

“My life goal is really to have more time with my family, realizing the depth of living out my soul the way I want to live.”

Wuerffel’s main job is to administer his Desire Streets Ministries, which have been featured in an “SEC Storied.” The organization, which helps needy inner-city kids, now has 12 locations in the Southeast.

On Saturday, Desire Streets reopened the center that was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans.

There is also the commercials he films, the Danny Wuerffel Award, his golf tournament in Ponte Vedra Beach, speeches, appearances, etc.

“It’s really about five full-time jobs,” Wuerffel said. “It’s a blessing I’m invited to so many amazing and inspiring things. I hate to say no.”

He lives in Atlanta with his wife and three children. Just recently, they all sat down to watch the Sugar Bowl game against FSU on the SEC Network.

“None of them had ever seen the game before,” Wuerffel said. “The biggest stat of the night was I had hair.”
