Demetrius Lewis

Defensive back

There are plenty of success stories from the 1996 Florida team, but none of the players has had as many brushes with fame as Lewis.

Lewis became a firefighter/medic in his hometown of Atlanta after graduation. A chance meeting with some Hollywood producers in the Atlanta airport led to Lewis working on movie sets and eventually starting his own company — Big Picture Medics.

“I’ve probably worked on 50 to 75 movies, commercials and TV shows,” Lewis said. “It’s amazing how many Gators I meet on these sets.”

His job is basically to take care of anyone with a medical issue. For example, during the filming of the TV show “Constantine”, an actor accidentally punctured himself in the liver with a scalpel and Lewis had to spring into action.

He has worked on such movies as “The Hunger Games” and “Endless Love” and on the set of “The Walking Dead”, rubbed elbows with Jennifer Anniston, Alfre Woodard and Donald Sutherland in the process.

Lewis is married to a former Dazzler and has three children, two boys and a girl.
