Terry Jackson

Running back

Mr. and Mrs Terry Jackson

As a young teenager growing up in Gainesville, Terry Jackson knew Candace White. They were both athletes — he at P.K. Yonge and she at Buchholz — but there was never anything romantic going on.

Jackson went on to play at Florida and then in the NFL for seven seasons. White went to medical school.

Sometime during their meetings back in Gainesville, the spark was lit. And in Orlando in July, the two were married after dating for 13 years.

“It’s funny because we hung out together when we were in high school,” Jackson said. “Then, it just happened.”

Jackson went to work at Florida in 2008 under Urban Meyer as the Director of Players and Community Relations and stayed in that position under Will Muschamp.

When Jim McElwain came in, Jackson had just become engaged.

“I had an opportunity to stay but I wanted to do other stuff,” he said. “I had some plans.”

He is starting a consultant group in Fort Lauderdale where he lives, but since his wife got a job as a doctor in Atlanta, Jackson will be “back and forth.”
