Dinah Voyles Pulver, data editor and environment writer for The Daytona Beach News-Journal, has covered environmental issues at the newspaper for more than 20 years. She is a three-time recipient of the Waldo Proffitt Award for Excellence in Environmental Journalism and has received a Gold Medal for Public Service from the Florida Society of News Editors and a national award of merit from the Grantham Prize for Excellence in Reporting on the Environment. When not roaming the wilds for work, the sixth-generation Floridian enjoys kayaking, genealogy, cooking and playing with her four grandchildren.
Dale White, a staff writer at the Sarasota Herald-Tribune who has covered every topic under the sun, is the recipient of two Chairman’s Awards from the New York Times Regional Newspaper Group, a first-place reporting award from the Florida School Boards Association and other recognitions from statewide journalism associations for editorial writing and coverage of affordable housing issues.

He has won the national Best of Freedom Award and Florida’s Gold Medal for Public Service award, along with three investigative reporting awards and awards for beat reporting, explanatory writing, and deadline reporting. An environmentalist at heart, he enjoys, kayaking, hiking, biking, exploring and bird-watching with his wife of four years.
Cindy Swirko, a staff reporter at The Gainesville Sun, has covered communities and topics across north central Florida since 1988. Her work won first place for environmental news coverage from the Florida Press Association in 2016. She is an avid cyclist and surfer.
