FOR GANNETT MEDIA JOURNALISTS

The Gannett National Data & Investigations Team wants to work with local newsrooms on investigative projects. We will dedicate staff and resources to assist your newsroom in producing impactful investigations with our skills in data analysis, public records requests, reporting, editing, and visualizations. If you have an idea and want our help, we’re interested in hearing from you. Please submit your project proposal using this form.

Or maybe you just need our help obtaining, cleaning, analyzing and/or visualizing data. We can do that, too. Click here for data assistance.

FOR MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC

If you would like to contact our reporters in a secure manner, you can use the following channels. No system is 100% secure, but the below information is our attempt to create a more secure environment than that provided by everyday communication channels.

Signal

This is a free, end-to-end encrypted messaging app, which allows you to communicate directly with the GateHouse investigative team. Signal allows you to send text, voice, video, document and photo messages from anywhere in the world. It’s only accessible to you and the recipient of your file or message–no exceptions, not even the app creators can access the information. This can be used through the Signal app for your mobile device or used on desktop.
Our Signal username: GHM Data/Investigations

Postal Mail

You can drop a letter or package in the mail to GateHouse investigative reporters. It is recommended that you use a mailbox rather than going into a post office if you wish to remain anonymous.
